Google search results had pivoted towards a LLM focused interface, and the results was that websites that had relied on free traffic from Google we seeing their traffic diminish. The gaining popularity of LLMs like ChatGPT also caused uneasiness for business owners that struggle to see where to focus their marketing efforts.
In all fo this, marketers and gurus throw around terms like AEO or AIO or GEO to confuse clients about SEO, when really it is all simply organic traffic with a focus on the referral source. And LLMs make-up less than 1% of organic traffic, and as little as 0.05%.

In fact, SEO tool AhRefs has revealed that while 42% of traffic to over 44,000 websites comes from Google Search, just 0.2% came from ChatGPT (as of August 2025).
The traffic is still organically earned (so, not paid for through ads), and whether your traffic comes from Google, or Bing; ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini, the fundamentals of optimised content that coherently and succinctly answers users questions are the same.
